The career of Martin Ruzicka began in a typical fashion. After three years in youth hockey leagues of Czech Republic he went on to try his fare in North America as he had been drafted to CHL, and moved across the pond where he spend two years in WHL. After returning to his home country Ruzicka changed five teams before eventually appearing in Amur. By that time Ruzicka had already become world champion, 2-time Extraliga champion and had once been named MVP of the league. An injury disrupted a potentially successful KHL season as Ruzicka played in only 33 games and posted a total of 15 points (10G, 5A). Next season was the most auspicious in Martin’s career; in 52 games in Ocelari he managed to garner 83 points (40G, 43 A) and became Extraliga’s best goalscorer, having beaten the #2 goalscorer by a landslide.
This past season, representing Ocelari, Ruzicka became #3 goalscorer of the league (52 GP, 26G, 29A). Ocelari made it to the semifinals but came up short against the future champion, Zlin. During the playoffs Ruzicka took part in 11 games and garnered a total of 11 points (7G, 4A).
