Red in town
Team Russia got upset by France in OT after goalless regulation.
Anton Burdasov and Ilya Lyubushkin had to miss the game
due to different reasons.
The first twenty was rather uneventful – both goalies only had to turn aside a handful of shots. It seems as if everyone inside Traktor Arena was in a lull because the game started at 8:30 PM local time, which is rather late compared to when Traktor games usually start. France had two PP opportunities, but Russians killed them off and started picking up the pace, which resulted in three power play chances for team Russia, but goals just would not come.
Early in the third period, Russia started dominating this contest through and through. It looked like all four lines were ready to spend the night in the attacking zone, but French goalie was adamant in his effort not to allow anything in, even the one-on-one opportunity that Pavel Kraskovsky had.
Russians began the OT in a four-on-three situation, but nothing came out of it. As if often happens, the punishment came immediately in the form of a Damian Fleury goal.
The repeat game will take place Saturday afternoon.
