Season is over

Barys edges out Traktor to finish the 2016/17 season for the black-and-white.

The only change that took place in Traktors lineup compared to game 5 was Danil Gubarev replacing Max Yakutsenya.

The first twenty was one of the best segments for Traktor during these playoffs. The black-and-white had the advantage and attacked Henrik Karlssons net. This performance led to a power play and the opening goal of the game; Kirill Koltsov found the back of the net with an accurate shot to the near corner. Riding the wave of momentum, the black-and-white had an opportunity to instantly double the lead, but Sharov chose to take a shot instead of passing the puck to Derek Roy who was all alone on the far post.

Barys dominated throughout the entirety of the second period. Two minutes in, Kevin Dallman fired the puck towards the slot where Vladimir Markelov redirected it past Pavel Francouz and into the net. The pressure kept on mounting, and it was only the superb goaltending of Traktor goalie that kept the score tied. At one point, even Francouz was helpless to save his team, but Corey Trivino found the goal post.

Early on in the third, Barys grabbed the lead to never give it back. During a PP chance, Dustin Boyd tallied a goal that turned out to be the series-winning goal. Still, visitors did not give up without a fight; Konstantin Pushkaryov received a double minor for highsticking, but the power play was pretty underwhelming. Pulling the goalie for a sixth skater did not help matters.

Unfortunately, the season ends rather abruptly for Traktor. Barys will face Magnitka in the conference semifinals. As far as the black-and-white are concerned, as they often say hey, there is always next season!
